This series of posts will chronicle my experience of playing role-playing games by myself, acting alternately as player(s) and Game Master / Referee. It is a spin-off of the Quantum Dungeons Preview series.
Games I will be playing solo include drafts (and eventually the published version) of Quantum Dungeons and Knave using published modules for Basic D&D, Expert D&D, and various OSR sources.
Eventually I will also try out “proper” solo gaming, possibly including but not limited to one or more of the following:
-
Classic Traveller, Cepheus Light, or Faster Than Light: Nomad via Playing Solo LBB or Solo Second Edition.
-
Coriolis: The Third Horizon using an as yet unknown GM Emulator.
-
Knave using A Lonely Knave and the 2nd Edition tools.
-
Quantum Dungeons using its solo rules.
-
Shadowdark, via Solodark.
-
Tales of Argosa, using its solo rules and an approximation of its oracle dice and cards.
-
Tunnels & Trolls, via various solo adventures.
-
Vaesen using Vaesen Solo Rules.
I may also try out more general resources like Mythic Game Master Emulator.
This series may last for years, or for one post after this one. I really don’t know. I do know I have shelves full of systems I want to try, and not enough willing players to try them.
