Half-Orcs in an Army

Lawful half-orcs gravitate toward military service in the kingdom or empire where they live. Despite prejudices, most militaries see the advantage in half-orc troops and half-orc companies. That said, half-orcs sledom rise very far in majority human armies; at best they become leaders among their own kind.

Half-Orcs in a Free Company

Neutral half-orcs also gravitate toward a military lifestyle, but as mercenaries. Some work freelance, while others join existing companies. A few charismatic half-orcs form their own companies of majorith half-orc soldiers, with a few human hirelings to act as the “face” of the company or make up for skills that half-orcs typically lack.

Half-Orcs in a Horde

Chaotic half-orcs often lead lives little different from their orc forebears, as bandits, raiders, or members of orcish hordes. They prefer to steal gold and silver rather than work for pay. Evnetually a band of raiders may merge with or expand into a clan, the clan into a tribe, and the tribe into a horde. Orcish and half-orcish hordes often have several semi-independent Warlords but only a single Tyrant, a king or queen who rules through fear and superior might.
